PDF Constructor View Tasks

Selecting Files & Folders

Selecting files and folders allows you to perform operations on them, such as PDF splitting, previewing with Quick Look and rearranging.

Selected items appear lighter than deselected items.

To select a single item, single click on it.

To select multiple items, either hold down (Command) while selecting additional files, or hold down (Shift) to also select all files between your original selection and your additional selection.

Renaming Files & Folders

To rename an item, either double-click on it or right-click and select the "Rename" option in the menu. When you have completed renaming, press return or enter to confirm the edit.

Renaming does not affect the file itself, only its name inside of the PDF Constructor View.

Rearranging Files & Folders

You can drag and drop items from place to place in the tree. Just select any item and drag it anywhere in the list. If multiple items are selected, they will all be moved to the same location.

Exclude/Include Buttons

The Exclude/Include button allows you to exclude a file from processing, without it being removed from the list. The exclude/include button is located to the right of every file or folder's name, and is only visible when your mouse is hovering over the file or folder, unless the file or folder is a chapter marker or is selected.

Removing Files and Folders

To remove any items from the list, select them and press the (Delete/Backspace) key.

Alternatively, you can right-click one of your selections and select the "Delete" option in the menu.

This does not affect the file itself, it only removes the file from the PDF Constructor View.

Quick Look

When you have selected an item (or multiple items), press the space bar to Quick Look them.

Alternatively, you can right-click one of your selections and select the "Quick Look" option in the menu.

Note: Quick Look does not function on Split PDFs for technical reasons.

Splitting PDFs

One PDF comes with PDF Splitting functionality, which allows you to split any PDF document into pages and rearrange them however you like.

To use PDF Splitting, simply right-click any PDF document in the PDF Constructor View and select the "Split PDF" option in the menu.

Note: PDF Splitting can be memory-intensive when used with large PDF documents. If the application appears to freeze, please be patient.
